Job Overview:
As
a Midwife and Nurse at Tuungane Woodley Hospital, you will play a vital role in
providing quality midwifery and nursing care in accordance with our hospital's
policies, protocols, and standards. Your responsibilities will include carrying
out nursing and midwifery duties, maintaining infection control standards,
ensuring proper inventory management, supervising nurse assistants, and
contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
l Provide
nursing and midwife services including prenatal care, labor and deliver,
postpartum care, family Planning and reproductive health care, gynecologic care
and patient education based on outlined SOPs and policies.
l Collaboration
with health care team to ensure timely and quality comprehensive care and
appropriate referrals.
l Responding
to obstetric emergencies to ensure safety of mother and baby.
l Maintaining
accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient visits and
treatment and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and hospital
polices.
l Advocate
for patients, ensuring their preferences and concerns are heard and addressed.
l Maintain
infection control standards and ensure proper disposal of medical waste.
l Cover
the nurse in charge when required and maintain strict confidentiality.
l Manage
inventory of equipment and report any malfunctions promptly.
l Demonstrate
leadership by supervising and mentoring nurse assistants.
l Adhere
to professional standards of care and promptly respond to emergencies.
l Provide
input on departmental business development and prepare reports as required.
Requirements:
l Diploma/Degree
in nursing from a recognized medical training institution.
l Post-diploma
training in Midwifery.
l Registered
with the Nursing Council of Kenya and possess a valid practicing license.
l Minimum
of two (2) years’ experience as a qualified Midwife, preferably in a hospital
setup.
l Proficiency
in computer application skills.
l
Strong commitment to patient care
and excellent communication skills.
