Position: Medical Officer

Job Overview:  
As a Medical Officer, you will play a vital role in providing quality medical services while adhering to our hospital's policies, protocols, and standards. Your responsibilities will include carrying out doctor's duties, maintaining infection control standards, covering for the doctor in-charge when required, and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment.

Key Responsibilities:  

1.Patient Consultations: Conducting patient consultations to assess health issues, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations. Listening to patients' concerns and symptoms to diagnose and develop treatment plans.

2. Diagnosing and Treating Illnesses: Using diagnostic tests and medical knowledge to diagnose diseases and conditions. Prescribing medications, recommending treatments, and providing follow-up care.

3. Patient Management: Monitoring the progress of patients, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and providing ongoing care for chronic conditions. Ensuring continuity of care by coordinating with other healthcare providers.

4. Emergency Care: Responding to medical emergencies, providing immediate treatment, and making decisions about further care. Stabilizing patients and arranging for their transfer to specialized care if needed.

5. Medical Procedures: Performing or assisting with medical procedures and surgeries as required. Ensuring that patients are properly prepared for procedures and explaining the process to them.

6. Collaboration and Referrals: Collaborating with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Referring patients to specialists or other healthcare services when necessary.

7. Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and preventive care. Providing advice on lifestyle changes, diet, and exercise to promote overall health.

8. Medical Documentation: Keeping detailed and accurate records of patient visits, treatments, and outcomes. Ensuring that all medical documentation complies with hospital policies and legal requirements.

9. Administrative Duties: Participating in hospital meetings, committees, and administrative tasks. Assisting with the development and implementation of hospital policies and protocols.

10. Continuing Education: Keeping up-to-date with the latest medical research, treatments, and best practices. Participating in ongoing education and training to maintain medical licensure and certifications.

11. Patient Advocacy: Acting as an advocate for patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support. Addressing any concerns or issues that patients or their families may have.

12. Quality Improvement: Engaging in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and hospital operations. Reviewing and implementing best practices and contributing to clinical research projects.

13. Supervision and Mentorship: Supervising and mentoring medical students, interns, and resident physicians. Providing guidance and support to junior medical staff.

14. Community Outreach: Participating in community outreach programs to promote health education and preventive care. Engaging with the local community to address public health concerns and improve access to healthcare.

15. Ethical Practice: Adhering to medical ethics and maintaining patient confidentiality. Making decisions in the best interest of patients and upholding professional standards.

Requirements:  
- Medical degree and valid KMPDC Registration License.
- Valid Malpractice Indemnity Insurance Certificate.
- Updated BLS, ACLS/ATLS certificate.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience, preferably in a hospital setup.
